New Review! Have a Nice Life – Time of Land
We’ve been keeping tabs on the band lately, as Have a Nice Life are among the most promising avant-garde groups to have never made a breakthrough. Has their EP Time of Land brought hope or apprehension for this post-metal wildcard? Find out here.

New Review! LCD Soundsystem – This is Happening, The New Pornographers – Together
The New Pornos’ newest LP proves that this massive group of venerated rock stars can still throw down some catchy jams and lift spirits, and James Murphy proves that he is still in fact James Murphy, meaning you should get ready to hit the dance floor.

New (Late) Review & Site Update
First of all, here’s a review of last year’s The Resistance by Muse, arena-rock Gods, common man clods.
Muse – The Resistance review by Trevor Johnson
Secondly, we’re changing the scoring system here at AI. In the past, we’ve used the decimal-point system to ensure an exact amount of pretentiousness, but this is starting to hurt even me. From now on, we’re on the letter-grade scale, which is self-explanatory enough: A’s are excellent, B’s are great, C’s are above-average to average, D’s are meh to bad and F’s suck ass though a straw. Got it? Good!
And finally, we have a Nostalgia trip on Madvillainy by…well, Madvillain. Read it here:
New Review! The Dead Weather – Sea of Cowards
Okay, think back reeeeaaaaally hard, all the way way WAY back to last year. Remember listening to the brilliance captured on The Dead Weather’s debut Horehound? The sequel is on its way soon. Have these four talented musicians lived up to their shimmering debut? Find out here:
New Review: Minus the Bear – Omni
So they’re back. Minus the Bear return to form with their newest LP Omni. Y’know, some bands stay indie for the creative expression it allows them. Others stay indie because major labels don’t want to touch them. Here’s a perfect example of the latter.
New Reviews! Autechre – Oversteps and Son of Aurelius – The Farthest Reaches
The eccentric electro duo have done well yet again, though perhaps not surprisingly, and heavy-hitting newcomers Son of Aurelius show us how Prog-Death is done on their debut.

5/16/10 – R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio
May 17, 2010 at 4:10 PM (Avery Island//Music, News Commentary) (Dio, Happening, Murphy, Soundsystem)
Let’s get this straight right now: I don’t particularly like Dio. I’ve never invested much time into his music, I’ve never really heard much beyond “Holy Diver”, etc. However, I am not ashamed to admit this unlike every douche on a social networking site “throwing horns” in the way of a King they never knew. So, with that in mind, I say it is a sad day not for me, but for every one that has been influenced in some way by Dio, basically the most important figure in modern Metal music along with Osbourne and Halford. Condolences to his friends and family.
